Getting started
What Digui is, and how to try your own receptionist in half a minute.
What is Digui?
Digui is an AI phone receptionist built from your website. It reads your site, learns your services, prices and hours, and answers your business's calls in a natural, human-like voice: it answers questions, books appointments, takes messages and passes callers to your team when they need a person.
It works for any business that lives on the phone: clinics, salons, gyms, restaurants, shops, startups and larger teams.
How do I try it?
On the homepage, type your website and press Call your receptionist. It's free and takes about half a minute.
- Type your name and your website (your phone is optional).
- Press Call your receptionist and watch Digui read your site and build it.
- Press Call your AI receptionist and talk to it in your browser. Allow the microphone when asked.
How long does it take to build a receptionist?
About half a minute. While it builds, you see each step: reading your website, learning your services and hours, training your receptionist, adapting it to your business and testing a call.
Do I need an account or a credit card to try it?
No. The demo on the homepage is free and needs neither. Sign up when you want to keep your receptionist, change its settings and connect it to your phone line and your tools.
Can I call my receptionist from a real phone?
Yes, on a paid plan: in the dashboard's Install tab, forward your business's calls to it, or call its number and type its code to try it. The free demo is called from your browser.
What if I don't have a website, or Digui can't read it?
In the dashboard, New receptionist has a Without a website option: type your business's name and write its greeting and prompt yourself. If Digui can't read your site, your receptionist starts empty and the dashboard tells you, so you can fill in its settings, starting with its prompt.
Your receptionist
Changing what it says, how it sounds and how it behaves on calls.
Where do I change my receptionist's settings?
Log in and open the dashboard. In Receptionists, pick one from the list: its settings are in tabs (General, Install, Documents, Tools and Voice). Save changes, and its next call uses them.
Can I change what it says when it answers?
Yes: General › Greeting. Write it in any language your receptionist speaks: calls start in that language.
What is the prompt, and should I edit it?
The prompt is how your receptionist behaves on every call and what it knows about your business. Digui writes it from your website when it builds the receptionist. You can rewrite any part of it, like a new employee's instructions: what to say, what not to promise, when to take a message.
Can I change its personality?
Yes: General › Persona. Pick Friendly, Professional, Concise, Fun, Calm, Enthusiastic or Formal. A persona changes how it talks, never what it knows or the rules it follows.
Can I pick its voice and speed?
Yes: Voice. Pick a voice to hear it, or leave it on Automatic (Eric in English, and a native voice from your business's country in Spanish). Move Speed to make it talk faster or slower.
It says a name wrong. Can I fix that?
Yes: Voice › Pronunciation. Type the word as it's written, then spelled the way it sounds (for example, Nguyen as “win”). It says it that way in every language.
Can I have more than one receptionist?
Yes, depending on your plan: Free and Starter have 1, Professional 3 and Business 10. Each has its own prompt, voice, documents and tools, for example one per location or department.
What happens if I delete a receptionist?
It's deleted for good with its settings: its link stops working and it stops answering calls. To confirm, the dashboard asks you to type its name. Its calls this month still count toward your plan's minutes.
Phone setup
Sending your business's real calls to your receptionist.
How do I connect my business's phone number?
You keep your number: you forward its calls to your receptionist. Open your receptionist's Install tab, copy the Transfer to number, and turn on call forwarding to it on your phone.
- In the dashboard, open your receptionist, then Install.
- Type your business's phone number and verify it with the code we send you by text or WhatsApp.
- Copy the Transfer to number.
- On your phone, turn on call forwarding to that number.
How do I turn on call forwarding on an iPhone?
Settings → Apps → Phone → Call Forwarding (on older iPhones, Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding). Turn it on and type the Transfer to number.
How do I turn on call forwarding on Android?
Phone app → ⋮ → Settings → Calls (or Supplementary services) → Call forwarding. Pick when to forward (always, when busy or when unanswered) and type the Transfer to number. Names vary a little by phone and carrier.
Can it answer only when I'm busy or don't pick up?
Yes. Most phones and carriers let you forward only when you're busy or when you don't answer, so your receptionist takes the calls you miss. On Android, pick that option in Call forwarding; on other phones, ask your carrier.
Why do I need to verify my business's number?
To prove it's yours. Once it's verified, calls from that number, or forwarded by it, reach your receptionist straight away, without its code. To remove it, empty the field and save.
Can it pass a call to someone on my team?
Yes, with the Call transfer tool. Add the numbers it may transfer to and write when to transfer to each (for example, emergencies or billing questions). It only ever transfers to those numbers, whatever a caller asks, and passes the call along with a summary. Transfers work on real phone calls, not on test calls in the browser.
Languages and voices
Answering every caller in their own language.
Which languages does it speak?
It greets callers in your website's language and answers in whatever language they speak, switching mid-call if they do. English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and many more.
Can I choose its accent?
Yes: Voice › Languages. Add the languages it speaks, each with its accent (for example, Spanish from Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Colombia or Chile, or British, Australian, Canadian or Indian English). Leave Also speak any other language on, and it answers callers in any other language with a neutral accent.
What if a caller switches language mid-call?
Your receptionist switches with them. You'll see it in the call's log as Switched language.
Knowledge and documents
What your receptionist knows, and how to teach it more.
What does my receptionist know about my business?
Everything your website says, written into its prompt when it's built: services, prices, hours, location, policies. Add documents for anything else, like a price list, your insurance policy or holiday hours.
How do I add documents?
In Content Storage, press New content and add one from a website, upload a file, or write it. Then give it to your receptionists: in each one's Documents tab, or right after you add it.
Which files can I upload?
PDF, Word, text, HTML or EPUB files, up to 10 MB each.
How does it use documents during a call?
Each document is indexed for search. When a caller asks something, your receptionist finds the parts of its documents that answer it and uses them, so long documents don't slow it down.
It gave a wrong answer. How do I fix it?
Read the call in Logs to see what it said, then correct the source: rewrite that part of its prompt (General), or edit or add the document with the right information. Your next call uses the change.
Tools and integrations
Letting it book, look things up and send messages while it's on the call.
What can it do besides answering questions?
With tools, it acts while it's on the phone: books appointments into your calendar, transfers calls to your team, emails your front desk, and looks up orders.
Which apps does it work with?
Today: Google Calendar, Outlook, Calendly, Gmail, Shopify, Square, call transfers and SQL databases (PostgreSQL and MySQL). Coming soon: OpenTable, WhatsApp, SMS, Slack, HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Sheets, Airtable and Zapier.
Can it answer from my database?
Yes, if your records are in PostgreSQL or MySQL, including Supabase, Neon, RDS and PlanetScale. Your receptionist answers callers and chat visitors from them: "Is my order ready?", "When's my appointment?". SQL Server and Oracle are coming later.
It only runs the one query you write, and only to read. On your website's chat, your server signs who the visitor is, so no one can pass as someone else to see their records; on a phone call, it can go by the caller's number, which can be faked as on any phone line, so don't let it alone unlock anything private. In Tools:
- Press New tool and pick SQL database.
- Make a database user for Digui that can only read what the query needs, and type its host, database, user and password.
- Write the query, with each value that changes from one person to the next as {{name}}, like {{customer_id}}, and press Test.
- Give it to your receptionists. If the query needs who the visitor is, the receptionist's Install tab has the code for your website, under Visitor details.
How do I set up a tool?
In the dashboard's Tools tab:
- Press New tool and pick an app.
- Sign in to the app, or add the numbers or addresses it may use.
- Write when to use it, as you'd explain it to a new employee.
- Give it to the receptionists that should use it. It works on their next call.
How do I see what each receptionist is connected to?
Graphs shows each receptionist with the documents it can look up and the tools it can use. Drag a card onto the graph to add it, or drag a box off to take it away. It saves as you go.
Which plans include tools?
Professional and Business. On Free or Starter, your tools stay saved, ready for when you upgrade.
My app isn't listed. Can you add it?
Yes. At the bottom of Tools, Bring your own tool or API: tell us what your receptionists should do with it (your CRM, booking system, store or your own API) and we'll build it for you.
Is it safe to connect my accounts?
Your logins stay with Pipedream, which keeps each one for its own tool only, and your receptionist can only do what you set up: email only the addresses you list, transfer only to the numbers you list.
Calls, logs and usage
Seeing every call, what was said, and how many minutes you've used.
Can I see the calls my receptionist took?
Yes: Logs lists every call to your receptionists, newest first, with a summary and the full transcript, including the tools it used and whether they worked. Filter by receptionist, language or date, or search them.
How do I check how many minutes I've used?
Usage shows your minutes this billing month against your plan's, then each receptionist's calls, talk time and cost.
Does the dashboard work on my phone?
Yes. Every tab has its own phone layout: pick an item in a list to open it, and Back to return to the list.
